Jake's Talent & Learning Newsletter

Be A Better Mentor & Mentee
Greetings, everyone! And as always, a special welcome to those of you receiving this newsletter for the first time.
This newsletter is a bit of a cheat... I'm highlighting a brief LinkedIn 'Article' that I was asked to write on some tangible ways to be a better mentor and mentee:

There are a few underlying premises to my perspective that I think are quite worthy of being challenged. For example, I clearly take the stance that a mentoring relationship is a distinct type of relationship (e.g. not coaching, managing, friendship, etc.). Another assumption is that mentorship is bettered by the formal labeling of that relationship - by acknowledging the mentorship occurring.
What are some other challenges/criticisms of the ideas that I offer which I may not have considered?
What are some other tactical choices you've experienced in a mentoring relationship that helped make it successful?
I am eager to hear your thoughts!
As always, let me know if there are topics you'd like me to investigate for an upcoming Newsletter.
